Alloy Fabweld is a well-established company based in Essex with many years of experience in the architectural and secondary steelwork industry, we design, value engineer, and manufacture many types of metalwork for almost every type of public or commercial building.

 

A position has become available for a Trainee Estimator to work within our increasingly busy team, serving multiple buildings and operations. The Trainee Estimator will be responsible for assisting the Sales & Estimating Manager in the completion and return of tenders.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Liaise with and support the team to help secure orders.

  • Assisting the estimators establish costs for existing and tendered projects.

  • Estimating costs for materials and hours required to complete projects.

  • Sourcing materials and finding out prices for plant hire

  • Communicate with all members of the pre-construction team, directors, clients, and consultants.

  • Comply with current estimating processes and assist in the management of tenders.

  • Develop client and consultant relations and develop solid working relationships.

  • Provide input to the handover process from estimating to contract.

  • Provide data as requested to review the performance of supply chain members.

  • Attend meetings with Clients, Designers, Quantity Surveyor's, etc. where necessary.

  • Attend site as required to further understand scopes and contract requirements.

 

Requirements:

 

  • A desire to build upon your current skillset and be a part of a thriving organisation.

  • Relevant Commercial or Construction degree, or vocational equivalent

  • A commitment to achieving deadlines.

  • Some experience estimating costs for construction projects.

  • The ability to work well under pressure, within a team and in strict timescales.

  • Attention to detail, with high levels of numeracy and literacy.

  • Able to work unsupervised using own initiative.

  • Competency in Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Flexibility/Reliability

 

Desirable Skills:

 

  • Previous experience working within the construction industry is preferred.
