Anaerobic Digester powering Alloy Fabweld's Manufacturing Facility in Essex

Renewable Energy Powered Facility

Our main production facility in Gosfield, Essex, is one of the UK's first large-scale, off-grid, carbon-neutral manufacturing sites. It's powered entirely by renewable energy from a 52-acre solar farm and an on-site anaerobic digestion plant.

The solar farm, with 44,976 panels, generates enough clean electricity to power approximately 3,545 homes annually, while the anaerobic digester converts local organic waste into biogas, providing additional electricity and heat for our operations. This process also produces 3,000 tonnes of organic fertiliser each year, which is returned to local farmland, replacing fossil fuel-derived alternatives.

We're committed to continuous improvement, using Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) methods to reduce waste and enhance efficiency. Our modular construction solutions help clients lower their environmental impact, and we're proud to support community well-being and biodiversity as part of our broader sustainability mission.

"For us, manufacturing isn’t just about precision engineering - it’s about doing it responsibly, with an eco-conscious mindset that protects the future as well as delivers for today"

Making a Difference Beyond the Workshop

At Alloy Fabweld, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is more than a policy, it’s a core part of who we are. From supporting local events like the Great Dunmow Soapbox Race to launching global initiatives through Hashtag Big Smile, we believe in giving back and building stronger communities.

Our team regularly takes part in charity fundraisers, community projects, and staff-led volunteering, creating real impact where it’s needed most. We’re proud to support causes that matter and encourage a culture of kindness, connection, and collective responsibility because great businesses don’t just build structures, they help build a better world.
