SKILLED SHEET METALWORKER - ARCHITECTURAL METALWORK

In this important role at Alloy Fabweld Ltd, as a Skilled Sheet Metalworker, you will be part of the team reading drawings and applying geometry and trigonometry for bending and angle calculations on our high-tech machinery. Alloy Fabweld Ltd is a large-scale architectural metalwork provider in the UK, specialising in staircases, high-rise, residential contracts, cladding, and rain-screen bespoke packages aligned to metalwork packages and for public work contracts - such as stations and infrastructure. Project values range from £500k to over £8m, these include developments with multiple materials including glass, timber, aluminum, stainless steel, and the full range of architectural steelwork.

The Role:

As a skilled sheet metalworker, you will be required to work from AutoCAD drawings and CNC-operated machines. Being fully conversant with press brakes, guillotines, and punches. You will also ideally have knowledge of CNC cutting machines and AutoCAD drawing.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Shaping and cutting out sections using hand tools and Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machines and presses.

  • Finishing items with grinders and polisher.

  • Select types of sheet metal or non-metallic material.

  • Measure and mark dimensions and reference lines on metal sheets, from engineering drawings.

Essential skills/experience for the role:

  • Ability to read fabrication drawings.

  • Good understanding of sheet metalwork and conversant with press brakes, guillotines, and punches.

  • Be able to work with Mild Steel, Stainless Steel & Aluminium.

  • Read drawings, and understand geometry and trigonometry for bending/ angle calculations.

  • Must be motivated and have a flexible approach.

 

Desirable​ skills:

  • Experienced with various CNC software would be an advantage.

  • Willing and looking for overtime as the company is very busy.
