Victory Place, East Village

The Mace Group, Stratford

Awarded to Mace Group, Victory Place is one of the key developments in the East Village programme, built on a site known as Plot N08 (also called Victory Plaza). This plot delivers 482 privately rented homes above a podium that includes retail and commercial space. The development was realised using high levels of prefabrication and an innovative “jump factory” method, allowing consistent quality, speed and reduced disruption to surrounding neighbourhoods. Each floor was installed largely offsite and lifted into place, helping to compress the construction schedule and maintain tighter quality control.

Within this ambitious context, Alloy Fabweld was engaged to design, fabricate and install the glass balconies and Juliette balconies that form such a visible component of the façade. These balconies not only provide outdoor amenity for residents but become part of the building’s architectural expression—balancing transparency, shadow, and openness in a dense urban setting. Working with the structural and architectural teams, Alloy Fabweld ensured that the balcony steel frames, glass balustrades, and fixings aligned precisely with the building’s prefabricated façade modules, meeting rigorous tolerance, safety and durability requirements.

The integration of the balcony systems demanded careful coordination. Because many façade elements arrived as prefabricated units, the balcony frames and glass assemblies had to dovetail seamlessly with them, with minimal on-site adjustment. All finishes were specified to withstand external exposure, including high-performance coatings and robust glass specifications to maintain aesthetics over time.

By delivering these balcony systems within the broader prefabricated regime of Victory Plaza, Alloy Fabweld played a critical role in enabling the project’s efficiency and architectural ambition. Their work helps reinforce the development’s identity—where the facades are active and dynamic rather than static—and supports East Village’s evolution into a place that feels modern, engaging, and connected.

"Alloy Fabweld’s balconies for Victory Place were delivered with excellence in engineering, design and coordination. Their work complemented our prefabricated façade strategy, ensured architectural consistency and gave residents high-quality outdoor spaces that enhance both function and character."

Victory Place in East Village is part of the ongoing transformation of London’s former Olympic Athletes’ Village into a dynamic residential and mixed-use neighbourhood. Designed to blend with East Village’s strong sense of place, the regeneration strategy emphasises high-quality architecture, community spaces, and sustainable infrastructure. East Village now comprises nearly 3,800 homes across 65 buildings, over 25 acres of parks and open space, and a network of independent shops, cafés and cultural venues.
