The Triangle Residential Development
Laing Partners, Cambridge
The balconies were an important part of the development’s residential offer, giving each home its own usable outdoor area while contributing to the overall architectural identity of the scheme. Their scale and repetition across the blocks required careful coordination, accurate fabrication and consistent installation to ensure a clean, high-quality finish throughout both phases.
Alloy Fabweld also delivered large sliding louvre panels to the main building façade. These panels were designed to provide light summer shading, helping to improve comfort for residents while adding movement and texture to the exterior. As well as supporting the practical performance of the building, the louvres helped create a distinctive visual feature across the elevations.
The project required close attention to detail across a phased programme, with balcony structures and façade elements needing to work together both technically and visually. Alloy Fabweld’s ability to manage design, manufacture and installation in-house helped support efficient delivery and a consistent finish across the development.
Alloy Fabweld’s contribution to The Triangle demonstrates their experience in delivering large-scale balcony and façade metalwork packages for residential schemes. Through well-engineered balconies and carefully integrated sliding louvre panels, the team helped create a modern, practical and visually strong development for Cambridge.
"Alloy Fabweld delivered the balcony and louvre package for The Triangle with professionalism, precision and care. Their work provided every apartment with generous external space while adding quality, consistency and architectural character to the development."

The Triangle, Cambridge is a residential development located close to Cambridge station, bringing 183 new homes to a well-connected and attractive part of the city. Designed across three blocks and rising to five storeys, the scheme was created to provide modern apartment living with strong access to transport, local amenities and the wider city centre.
Alloy Fabweld was appointed by Laing Partners to deliver a £2.6 million architectural metalwork package across two phases of the project. Working to the design of HTA Architect Ltd, Alloy Fabweld designed, manufactured and installed large steel balconies for every apartment, creating generous private external space for residents and adding depth and rhythm to the building elevations.
