Prince of Wales Drive, Battersea
Berkeley Group / St William
The balconies were designed not only to provide private external space for residents, but also to improve the quality of light and openness within the apartments. Their projecting forms help reflect daylight into the homes, while adding depth, rhythm and character to the exterior of the buildings.
All 190 balconies were fitted with high-quality fire-rated aluminium decking, along with matching fire-rated aluminium soffits and cladding. This provided residents with safe, durable and low-maintenance external spaces, while supporting the wider safety and performance requirements of the development.
The PPC balustrades were finished in a smooth bronze metallic powder coating, chosen to complement the overall building design and create a modern urban appearance. This finish added warmth and refinement to the balconies, helping them sit comfortably within the wider architectural language of Prince of Wales Drive.
To support efficient site delivery, the balconies were manufactured, assembled and tested offsite at Alloy Fabweld’s own production facilities before being delivered fully assembled to site. Some balconies were stored on the roof of one block and installed using a spider crane due to limited ground floor space, while others were lifted directly from transport into position. This approach helped reduce installation time, minimise disruption and improve programme efficiency.
Alloy Fabweld’s contribution to Prince of Wales Drive demonstrates their ability to deliver large-scale balcony packages for high-profile residential developments. Through careful design, precise fabrication, offsite assembly and coordinated delivery, the team helped create safe, attractive and distinctive balcony spaces for one of Battersea’s standout new neighbourhoods.
"Alloy Fabweld delivered the Prince of Wales Drive balcony package with precision, efficiency and strong attention to detail. Their fully assembled fire-rated balcony systems, bronze balustrades and coordinated installation approach helped achieve a high-quality finish while supporting a smooth and efficient programme on site."

Prince of Wales Drive is a major residential development in Battersea, positioned between Battersea Park and Battersea Power Station. Set within landscaped gardens and close to one of London’s most recognised regeneration areas, the scheme has transformed a former industrial site into a contemporary residential neighbourhood with new homes, public spaces, retail, cafés and improved pedestrian connections.
Alloy Fabweld worked closely with the Berkeley Group to design, manufacture and support the installation of 190 balconies across the development. Each balcony was carefully developed to complement the architectural style of the buildings, with unique shapes using square and angled forms to create a distinctive visual identity across the façades.
