NO6 Skybridge, East Village

Mace, London

Measuring six metres high, six metres wide and stretching 26 metres in length at a 26-degree pitch, the bridge was prefabricated and test-assembled at Alloy Fabweld’s carbon-neutral, solar-powered facility before being transported to site. To meet the project’s demanding logistical and safety requirements, the structure was manufactured in two heavy sections weighing 22 and 39 tonnes, which were lifted into position with absolute precision using specialist frames and rigs. The bridge was also engineered with bespoke sliding shoes, allowing for over 100 millimetres of controlled movement to accommodate both wind and gravitational shifts, ensuring stability and performance over its lifetime.

The No 6 Skybridge is a testament to Alloy Fabweld’s innovation and technical expertise, combining offsite manufacturing efficiency with on-site precision installation. It not only provides safe, practical connectivity between buildings but also enhances the architectural character of the East Village development.

"Alloy Fabweld surpassed our expectations on the No 6 Skybridge project. Their expertise in fabricating and installing such a challenging structure at height with precision, innovation and professionalism, was exceptional."

Adam Cornwell, Project Manager

Bridge

The No 6 Skybridge in East Village, Stratford, stands as a striking example of Alloy Fabweld’s ability to take on highly complex architectural engineering challenges. Working in collaboration with Mace, Hawkins Brown and Walsh Engineers, the team were tasked with designing, fabricating and installing a bridge that would seamlessly connect two residential towers at levels 10 through 12.
