King’s Road Park, Fulham

Berkeley Homes

The Oculus required a balance of visual impact, structural performance and precise fabrication. The slender, curved metalwork was designed to create a bold architectural statement while allowing natural light to flow into the spaces below. Its elegant form brings movement and drama to the garden setting, helping to create a memorable focal point within the wider development.

Alloy Fabweld’s work also included carefully detailed entrance gates and associated metalwork, providing both security and a refined architectural finish. These elements were designed to sit naturally within the high-quality landscape and building environment, complementing the wider materials and design language of King’s Road Park.

Delivering a feature of this nature required close collaboration, accurate setting out and high precision fabrication. Every curve, fixing and finish needed to work together to achieve the desired architectural effect while meeting practical requirements for durability, safety and long-term performance.

Alloy Fabweld’s contribution to King’s Road Park demonstrates their ability to deliver bespoke architectural metalwork for landmark regeneration projects. Through the Oculus rails, entrance gates, feature staircases and glass finishes, the team helped create a distinctive centrepiece that supports the identity, quality and public appeal of this major Fulham development.

"Alloy Fabweld delivered the Oculus metalwork package at King’s Road Park with exceptional skill and attention to detail. Their work on the curved rails, entrance gates, feature staircases and glass finishes helped create a striking architectural feature that complements the landscaped setting and enhances the character of the wider development."

King’s Road Park is a major residential-led regeneration scheme in Fulham, transforming a former gasworks site into a new mixed-use neighbourhood with homes, landscaped gardens, public spaces and commercial areas. Located close to King’s Road and the River Thames, the development brings together contemporary city living with carefully considered public realm, while also celebrating the site’s industrial heritage through the restoration of historic structures.

At the heart of the development is the Oculus, a striking architectural feature designed to frame and enhance the landscaped garden area. Alloy Fabweld worked closely with Berkeley Homes to develop and deliver the specialist metalwork for this distinctive feature, including the curved rails known as the “eyelashes”, entrance gates, feature staircases and glass finishes.
