Kew West
St James Homes, London
The staircase was formed around a mild steel skeletal framework, with carefully shaped helical steel stringers creating its sweeping curved profile. A distinctive monkey tail feature at the base added further character, giving the staircase a refined and memorable finish.
The structure was coated in a two pack gloss painted finish, with the treads and risers wrapped in dark oak to bring warmth and contrast to the steelwork. This combination of materials helped create a staircase that felt both contemporary and crafted, suited to the luxury setting of the marketing suite.
The feature balustrade was completed with inset handrail brackets supporting a solid bronze polished top rail, carefully following the flowing lines of the staircase. An oval first floor landing completed the design, creating symmetry and allowing the stair to sit elegantly within the space.
Alloy Fabweld’s work at Kew West demonstrates their ability to deliver bespoke feature staircases that combine technical precision with strong visual impact. Through careful fabrication, material detailing and attention to form, the team helped create a staircase designed not just for movement, but to captivate buyers and reinforce the quality of the development.
"Alloy Fabweld delivered a beautifully crafted feature staircase for the Kew West marketing suite. Their attention to detail, precision fabrication and understanding of the luxury residential setting helped create a striking centrepiece that made a lasting impression on prospective buyers."

Staircase
Kew West was a high quality residential development in Kew Bridge, designed to offer contemporary London living in a desirable West London location. Set close to Kew Village, the River Thames and the wider Kew Bridge area, the development needed a marketing suite that would reflect the quality, ambition and elegance of the homes being presented to buyers.
Alloy Fabweld was appointed by St James Homes to deliver a £145k feature staircase for the marketing suite on Kew Bridge Road. Designed to create an immediate impression, the staircase was developed as a sculptural centrepiece, helping to set the tone for the customer experience from the moment potential buyers entered the space.
