K1 & K2 Floating Water Pavilions

Canary Wharf Contractors, London

Alloy Fabweld took full advantage of their pioneering, off‑grid, 100 percent green-energy production facilities in the UK to manufacture the steel elements, with the main energy for the site supplied by a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) network. Every step was taken with sustainability in mind, targeting a BREEAM Excellent rating, placing the pavilions among the most environmentally high-performing buildings.

As the structures were constructed off-site and floated into position, the project demanded precision, coordination and environmental care every step of the way. The outcome is a pair of elegant, floating venues that combine innovative engineering with beautiful, sustainable design, enhancing Wood Wharf’s vibrant waterside community while contributing to a greener future.

"Alloy Fabweld delivered a truly pioneering solution on the K1 & K2 Floating Water Pavilions. Their commitment to sustainable manufacturing, combined with technical excellence and seamless installation, resulted in floating structures that are both stunning and environmentally responsible."

Floating Structures

The Floating Water Pavilions, known as K1 and K2, at Wood Wharf showcase Alloy Fabweld’s impressive engineering and sustainable manufacturing capabilities. Commissioned by Canary Wharf Contractors and designed by Glenn Howells Architects, this £4.75 million project involved designing, fabricating and installing steel structures within floating concrete bases over five phases, from hull level to roof level.
