Crown House, Aldwych
ISG, London
Alloy Fabweld was appointed by ISG to deliver a £750k package of bespoke metalwork, working to the design intent of Sidell Gibson. Their scope included the design, manufacture and installation of new entrance gates, penthouse staircases and a feature glass helical staircase.
The entrance gates were designed to provide security and a strong visual finish at street level, helping to complete the building’s public-facing appearance. Their detailing needed to sit comfortably within the prestigious Aldwych setting, complementing the retained architecture rather than feeling like an afterthought.
Within the upper residential areas, Alloy Fabweld delivered staircases to the penthouses, creating refined internal connections suited to a high-end residential specification. The feature glass helical staircase formed a standout element of the project, combining complex fabrication with a light, elegant finish. Its curved form required accuracy, craftsmanship and close coordination with the surrounding finishes to achieve the desired architectural result.
Alloy Fabweld’s contribution to Crown House demonstrates their ability to deliver design-led architectural metalwork on complex central London projects. By combining precision fabrication, careful installation and sensitivity to the wider architectural setting, the team helped complete a scheme that successfully blends heritage character with modern city living.
"Alloy Fabweld delivered the Crown House metalwork package with precision, care and professionalism. Their work on the entrance gates, penthouse staircases and feature glass helical staircase showed excellent craftsmanship and a strong understanding of the building’s architectural character."

Façade, Rails, Gates
Crown House, Aldwych is a prestigious redevelopment located at the meeting point of Aldwych and Kingsway, in the heart of London’s Theatreland. The project brought together heritage-sensitive façade retention with a modern mixed-use building, creating upgraded commercial space, retail areas, underground parking and high-quality residential accommodation on the upper floors.
The scheme required careful attention to both architectural detail and construction coordination. With retained façades facing Kingsway, Aldwych and Drury Lane, the new structure needed to respect the character of the existing streetscape while delivering a contemporary internal environment. This balance between old and new made the architectural metalwork package especially important.
