Job Summary

Produce CAD designs in both 2D & 3D as required, for Stairs, Balustrades, Balconies and any other products the business develops in the future using Autodesk - Advance Steel and any other relevant software as necessary.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Request information from clients in the required formats. (Typically, dwg & pdf)

Save all information supplied in the relevant company standard folder structure.

Create designs for client approval (2D and/or 3D) as instructed.

Review and check designs for errors prior to submission for approval/manufacture.

Highlight to the Line Manager any areas of design that don’t follow company guidelines.

Submit designs to clients for review and approval.

Update designs as necessary following client comments.

Produce fully developed 3D models in Advance steel as requested.

Generate fabrication packs ensuring adherence to company drawing standards.

Provide support as necessary for any design queries.

 

Other Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain all relevant documentation. (Registers, Trackers, KPI’s etc)

Provide project status updates to management and stakeholders as requested.

Participate in meetings to provide feedback for continuous improvement opportunities.

Continually improve design techniques with respect to:

  • Business objectives

  • Software developments

  • Latest design trends

Manage and execute all tasks in a timely manner.

Ensure to follow best practices and company standards.

Be a proactive and engaged team member, working collaboratively with others.

Always maintain a professional manner.

Essential

2D CAD minimum intermediate level

Relevant BTec/NVQ/HNC qualification or equivalent.

3D CAD design would be advantageous, along with a Product Design Degree or equivalent.

Relevant skills

  • Experience in producing detailed workshop-ready drawings.

  • Strong understanding of materials and appropriate uses.

  • Strong numeracy skills.

  • Good problem-solving abilities.

Desirable skills

  • Experience in designing for the Architectural metal works industry.

  • Experience in heavy manufacturing/process/engineering environments.

  • Engineering background.

  • Building regulations knowledge.

Specialist Skills

  • Communicate technical detail clearly and accurately.
  • Understand specific needs regarding tolerances within company design parameters.

  • Advantageous - Autodesk - Advance Steel

  • Strong prioritisation skills.

  • Work to strict deadlines.
