We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Estimator to help win and deliver projects at a regional and national level. You will also take a leading role in establishing and maintaining client relationships which focus on excellent cost estimating delivery .

 

Within the role, you will receive enquiries allocated by our Pre-Construction Director and send out enquiries for materials and sub-contract items. You will also receive and evaluate prices for materials and sub-contractors and build up the price using an estimating system or by Excel spreadsheet.

 

You will be responsible for assisting the Pre-Construction Director in the completion and return of tenders. This will be done by measuring drawings and completing buying enquiries.

 

What You Will Contribute To The Team

 

  • Managing and Preparing estimates and cost plans in line with defined briefs, customer objectives, and contracted scope of works.

  • Implementing the management of estimate deliverables in conjunction with design project management and third-party input.

  • Coordinating with design teams to ensure estimate deliverables fully capture all required scope.

  • Interpretation of programmes, construction, and logistics reports informing estimating deliverables.

  • Achieving the delivery of projects within budget.

  • Target cost contract reviews.

  • Third-party estimate reviews.

  • Inputting into transport business cases, including whole-life costing and alignment with Sustainable Development Goals.

  • Assisting in developing and maintaining estimate management good practice and upholding high standards within the team in a client-facing environment.

  • Assisting in the settlement of construction disputes by providing and evaluating cost data.

  • Assisting in the development of programmes for the delivery of our services

  • Assisting in securing new and repeat business.

  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly management reports/liaison with the portfolio manager.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Act in a professional manner when communicating (both spoken and written) with clients.

  2. Interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to raise an accurate quote that is clearly communicated to the client in a timely manner.

  3. Preparation of detailed and complex estimates for projects calculating costs considering labour, materials, and deadline requirements.

  4. To produce a quotation that reflects the client's requirements.

  5. Prepare and complete documentation for tendered projects.

  6. Reporting of quotation status post tender.

  7. Attending pre-tender, mid-tender, and post-tender meetings with client representatives, on-site or at their offices

  8. Assisting with tender proposals and then handing them over to the project team upon award.

  9. Communicate regularly with colleagues and Senior Managers where required Assist Project Surveyors in preparation of variations, accounts, etc.

  10. Consult with and support the Sales team to help secure orders.

  11. Attend internal meetings, present costing, and share thoughts on alternative submission value-engineered solution.

  12. Work as an integral part of a busy close-knit team.

  13. Conduct other tasks and duties as reasonably requested by management

  14. Promote all services currently offered by all Group companies to all clients
