WHO WE WORK WITH

OUR HISTORY

FOUNDED

1996

Alloy Fabweld Ltd was formed in 1996 to fill a gap in the local non-ferrous fabrication market beginning with process engineering contracts for export and Alloy Facade manufacture for a buoyant UK commercial market.

From humble beginnings, the business developed quickly from an initial two employees (Directors) to 12 employees at the beginning of 1998.

1998

The success of securing a large non-ferrous contract at the Royal Opera-House elevated the fortunes of the business further. Undertaking the manufacture and install of staircases, handrails and internal panelling to the Floral Hall along with structural seating to the lower theatre areas, the contract completed successfully just before the millennium to the value of £1.4m.

1999

Moving into the early 2000's a number of successful contracts followed including:- Berkeley Homes, Embankment Project (balcony supply and install), value £1.3m; St James, Hendon Lane (balconies and cladding), value £1.1m; The HAT Wembley, with Lovell Partnerships (balconies and staircases) value £1.8m.

2000 - 2003

2004

By early 2004 Alloy Fabweld was changing rapidly, we moved into new tailored 8000 sq ft premises, with full fabrication and sheet metal facilities.   By this time, staff had risen to 40 employees and turnover reaching towards £3m.

2004 to 2008 was a time of good stable growth, with market pedigree being established in the Architectural and structural glass fields.  The employee base was shifting more towards a technically driven production delivery, with Alloy Fabweld at the forefront of 3D D&B.

2004 - 2008

Our Polish technical facility opened in 2008 increasing capacity for in-depth buildability of metalwork and cladding.

2008

A number of landmark contracts help put Alloy Fabweld firmly on the map as one of the few 'one stop shop' suppliers and installers in the UK of architectural metalwork.  Contracts included The Triangle, Cambridge;

Campbell Park, Milton Keynes and Kidbrooke.

2008

By 2009, Alloy Fabweld had in excess of 90 staff and a generous turnover of approx. £6m, operating from 4 factories, totalling 35,000 sq ft of production and assembly.

2009

Launch of Rebel Strength (our gym equipment brand).

2015

Launch of Flexi Group (our cost effective stair solutions brand)

2016

Our 4th and first creative brand Livin’ Art is launched.

Summer, 2018

A large office restructure took place at our headquarters in Great Dunmow to increase our working space, employing more staff to align with our ever-increasing client demand and new business.

2017

we acquired a fantastic 16,000 sq. ft of bespoke warehouse facility at Gosfield, Essex.  Leading the way in offsite Architectural metalwork, our state of the art assembly, storage, workshop and yard space has actively increased our quality, efficiency, safety and is already servicing a number of our client’s requirements.

Spring 2018

Early Summer, 2018

We had a Unit/Brand move-around.  Rebel Strength and Livin’ Art moved out of one of our Units on Ongar Road Trading Estate and over to their new home at Chelmsford Road Industrial Estate.  Their old unit became our shiny new sheet metal workshop.  At a cost of £800k and boasting fantastic new innovative machinery, the unit has dramatically improved efficiency and given our customers an even greater choice of bespoke architectural solutions.

Summer 2018

Our impressive new spray shop officially opened, allowing us to now paint balconies in-house; improving efficiency and quicker turn-around times for our clients.

Proud to launch Hashtag Big Smile, in collaboration with other businesses we are 'changing our world, building communities, one smile at a time'. Embedding genuine CSR, team-building and making a real difference to under-privileged communities.

When Shaun Pledger started Alloy Fabweld Ltd in 1996, he had 4 core principles. These are still at the centre of all delivery today:

1) To offer a competitive product, on time, that exceeds customer expectation whilst always showing empathy and understanding to the whole delivery process.

2) To drive a design which improves the dynamics of the contract, working in full collaboration with the client, design, production and delivery teams.

3) To invest profits wisely in the training and improvement of all Alloy Fabweld staff. To provide support to the communities both locally where we manufacture and further afield where we install. Making real ‘on the ground’ differences.

4) To realise that a company’s most important asset is its staff. At Alloy Fabweld, we all work together to promote synergy, well-being and mindfulness in the work place, championing growth and opportunity.
